Welcome to Paris!
Paris is the capital of France and one of the most iconic cities in the world, known for its art, culture, and historical significance. Located along the River Seine, Paris offers a unique blend of modern urban life with a rich historical background, making it a top destination for visitors from around the globe.

How to Get to Paris?

By Plane
Paris is served by three international airports: Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), Orly Airport (ORY), and Beauvais-Tillé Airport (BVA).

Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), the largest, is located about 25 km northeast of Paris and is a major hub for international flights. Getting to the City Center: The RER B train runs directly from CDG to central Paris in about 35 minutes. Alternatively, buses (such as the RoissyBus and Le Bus Direct) and taxis are available.

Orly Airport (ORY) is located 13 km south of Paris. Getting to the City Center: You can take the Orlyval light rail to the RER B train line or use buses such as the Orlybus. A taxi ride takes about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Beauvais-Tillé Airport (BVA), about 85 km from Paris, mainly serves budget airlines. Getting to the City Center: A direct shuttle bus connects Beauvais to Porte Maillot in Paris in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

By Train
Paris is exceptionally well connected by rail. Gare du Nord, Gare de l’Est, Gare Montparnasse, and Gare de Lyon are the main stations serving both domestic and international destinations.

Eurostar links Paris to London in just over 2 hours, while the Thalys service connects Paris to Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany.

Nationally, the TGV high-speed trains link Paris to major French cities like Lyon, Marseille, and Bordeaux.

By Car
Paris is connected to the rest of Europe via an extensive motorway network. However, parking in central Paris is limited and expensive, so public transport is often the better option once in the city.

Getting Around

Public Transport
Paris has a highly efficient public transport system, managed by RATP. It includes:

Metro: The Paris metro has 16 lines that run throughout the city, making it easy to get around. Metro stations are marked with a distinctive “M” sign.

RER: These regional express trains connect Paris with its suburbs and major attractions like Versailles and Disneyland Paris.

Buses and Trams: Paris also has an extensive bus and tram network.

Tickets: A single ticket allows you to switch between metro, RER, and buses within central Paris. Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines or via the Navigo Easy card for multiple trips.

Day tickets (called Paris Visite passes) are available, starting at around €13 for a one-day pass, which covers zones 1-3 (central Paris).

Cycling
Paris is becoming increasingly bike-friendly, with Vélib’, the city's bike-sharing program, offering a convenient way to explore. Dedicated bike lanes are being expanded throughout the city.

Taxis and Ridesharing
Taxis are readily available throughout the city. The base fare starts around €7, and prices increase depending on distance and time. Ride-sharing services like Uber are also widely used.
